How
It All Began
In
1985 Charlie Lee was song leader at
Village Baptist Church. He loved
leading the congregational music. It
was during that year that Charlie had
an idea to host a monthly singing at
his church. He would sing as a soloist
and also host the singing. Before long,
Charlie had three of his grandchildren,
Amy, April and Jason joining him
regularly singing as a trio and as back
up singers for himself. Those three
grandchildren became known as the
"Singing Pearsons."
In
August of 1988 the monthly singings
were moved to the Irving Opry under the
new name of Charlie and Friends
Gospel MUSIC Revue. Charlie and the
"Singing Peasons" hosted groups from
Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. From 1989
to 1990, Charlie's monthly singings
were broadcast live on KSKY
Radio.
In
1993, unfortunately the Irving Opry
closed its doors creating On the
Road With Charlie and Friends,
taking the monthly singings back to
being held at different local
churches.
Early
1994, Charlie started singing solo
again as the "Singing Pearsons"
concentrated on school. In late 1994,
Amy returned to sing with Charlie
concentrating as a background harmony
vocalist with an occasional lead. They
became known as Charlie and
Company.
Over
the years the Lord has opened many
doors. 1995 through 1999 Charlie and
Company stayed very busy singing at
church, church ffinctions, Oprys, The
Choctaw Festival in Oklahoma and the
Music Association Convention. "We pray
the Lord will continue to use us in his
service."
